Among the ports between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, there is a special channel called "cross border farming port". Since the 1950s, villagers living near the border between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, while holding a special certificate, can go to Hong Kong to farm on the other side.

Nowadays, with no need to do cross-border farming, the cross-border farming port has gradually stepped down from the stages of history. A small cross border farming permit has witnessed great changes in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone over the past 40 years.
