Guangdong's foreign trade development is still resilient and stable with small monthly fluctuations, as the first five months of 2023 have seen the province's exports increased by 4.8 percent to 2.13 trillion RMB, according to the latest data from Guangdong Sub-administration of GACC.
During the same period, the province’s trading with emerging markets kept growing. Its imports and exports to ASEAN, EU grew up 5.2 percent and 0.03 percent respectively, while that to the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) routes increased by 8 percent.
The top three products by exports - electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells grew by 7.8 times, 31.7 percent and 79.5 percent respectively, injecting strong impetus to the foreign trade of the province; while the exports of agricultural produce increased by 27.1 percent.
Besides, the first five months also witnessed the growth in the imports of bulk commodities and retail products. The imports of meat, aquatic products and dairy food went up 26.1 percent, 23.1 percent, and 14 percent respectively.
The import and export volume of general trade reached 1.86 trillion RMB, up 5.5 percent, while that of bonded logistics by 8 percent to 533.11 billion RMB.
