2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, and also the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, a landmark project of Sino-Singaporean government cross-border cooperation. LOH Tuck Keat came to work in China for the second time in the special year and took the post of Singapore’s Consul General in Guangzhou.
Returning to Guangdong after 5 years, what shocked LOH Tuck Keat was not only the skyscrapers and convenient transportation, but also the innovations of mobile payment and e-commerce in daily life.
In 2019, Guangdong had became the largest provincial trading partner in China with Singapore and became Singapore's largest investment locations in China, with more than 200 projects. At present, there are two major cooperation projects between Singapore and Guangdong, Guangdong-Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and Shenzhen Smart City, which also let LOH Tuck Keat feel that the cooperation model between the two places is advancing with the China’s development.
