On May 13, a delegation of 11 Russian media outlets kicked off their visit in South China's Guangzhou, as the first stop of their trip in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With the aim of seeking growth opportunities through partnerships with China, the delegation was introduced to some of the key pillar sectors that reflect great economic vibrancy in the region.
During the visit to GAC AION, a local flagship enterprise in new energy automobiles, the delegation was intrigued to see the designs and functions of the latest models, as well as the supercharged battery technology, at the exhibition hall. To find out how the vehicles are seamlessly manufactured in the factory, they also paid an on-site visit to the workshop at AION that incorporates assembly, battery production, and welding.
After seeing firsthand the assembly line of new energy vehicles, Ekaterina Shirokova from TASS News Agency, who specializes in international relations, shared her thoughts with GDToday on these fast-growing industries in Guangzhou. "I found it very surprising how well the smart techniques are used along the assembly line." She anticipates more possible cooperation on hybrid vehicles between China and Russia. "In Russia, the use of electronic cars is not very developed, so I believe with China we can explore more and try to cooperate."
Later on the trip, the delegation continued their way to the exhibition hall of the Canton Fair venue in Panzhou, Haizhu District, to find out the growth trajectory of the fair that generates massive trade volume each year. Анна Евгеньевна Малинина, a journalist from rg.ru who made her first visit to China a decade ago, felt even more impressed on her second visit to Guangzhou. She spoke highly about the scale and potency of the Canton Fair, "It's my first time in Guangzhou. There are a lot of pavilions here, and it's very interesting and impressive to see this high level of trade between Russia and China in this area."
Up next, the delegation will continue their visit to Shenzhen and then Fujian Province before heading back to Moscow.
