“The integration of the history of Macao into the mainland is fascinating.”
“I saw all these fantastic new technologies that have changed the Traditional Chinese Medicine in a very modern way which helps to spread it to the world.”
The members of the "Bridges" Discovery Tour arrived in Zhuhai and explored Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin on August 23.
Hengqin, the 106-square-kilometer area, across the sea from Macao in the southern part of Zhuhai, Guangdong province, is three times Macao's size. It aims to make up for the shortage of land resources in Macao and create favorable conditions for the SAR(Special Administrative Region)'s diversified industrial developments.
The urban environment of Hengqin reminded Ana, a Latvian lifestyle blogger, of her hometown in Europe. “Latvia has a lot of places like this, the UK where I've lived for over 6 years also has a lot of places like this,” said Ana.
She considers the Tinmuk Rowing Center, located in Hengqin Rowing Park, is a good place for enjoying time, “In England, I used to go kayaking which is a different type of boat. If I lived in Zhuhai, I'll definitely get a membership and come here quite often.”

Martina Gdovinova, a Slovakian YouTuber, known as PoPMatta, changed her perspective on Chinese medicine after having visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao (TCM industrial park).
PopMatta had tried Chinese massage and cupping before and found TCM helpful for her chronic headaches since it not only treats the symptoms but also targets the root of the health problem.
“I thought TCM is only used inside China but today we learned that TCM is also promoted to other countries, for example, to the doctors in Mozambique. The industrial park organized Guangdong TCM doctors to offer them training and taught them how to use acupuncture and different Chinese medicine, which makes people in other countries able to try TCM,” said PopMatta.

Zhongshan based Ann Liang is interested in Chinese medicine and therapies. She was impressed by Authenmole (Zhuhai Hengqin TCM Health Industry Development Co., Ltd)’s new technology that changed TCM materials into instant powder.
“You can just put it in water and drink it. It’s much more convenient for modern life and easier for people in other countries to take Chinese medicine since the traditional way of cooking TCM ingredients is complicated,” said Liang.
According to a staff member of Authenmole, the company will launch an AI robot soon in the future, which can write a medical prescription and produce instant powder medicine in 2 minutes.
Thus far, TCM industrial park has incubated more than 50 Macao-invested enterprises.

The cooperation between the enterprises in Zhuhai and Macao attracted the attention of Jerry Grey, Zhongshan-based freelancer. He learned that Pachira, an artificial intelligence high-tech enterprise with speech recognition technology, has R&D cooperation with the University of Macau.
“I'm really impressed with the fact that people here really focus on the Portuguese speaking countries. The integration of the technology and the tradition as well as the way they are doing business with the Portuguese speaking world is incredibly fascinating,” said Grey.
The Bridges members will continue their trip to Qingyuan and Guangzhou in the coming days, trying to explore technological companies and rural areas in the Greater Bay Area.
