"The development of data centers has national positioning and requires quantities of electrical equipment. It brings us the opportunity as we can provide services for stable supply of electricity and help improve its efficiency," Jiang Ying, ABB Electrification Digital Leader in China, told GDToday at the 2nd GBA (Guangdong) Computing Power Industry Conference and the 1st China Computing NET Conference in Guangdong's Shaoguan.
"The advanced manufacturing industry has become the key focus in the competition between countries. Guangdong will put more effort into upgrading its supply chains, boosting technological breakthroughs and the development of the services industry to achieve its high-quality development goal," Guo Wanda, Executive Vice President of China Development Institute (CDI), told GDToday in a recent interview.
As a developed area with an open economy in China, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) can increase consumer demand by expanding imports, said Mao Yanhua, a professor at the Institute of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Development Studies of Sun Yat-Sen University.
Cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) should work together and help each other on the way to win-win development. One city, single-handed, does not bear the strength that the whole region needs to thrive. And, especially in the current international situation, we need joint efforts among cities more than ever, said Guo Renzhong, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Head of the Research Institute for Smart Cities of Shenzhen University, Academic of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, Permanent Honorary President of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, gave his remarks on promoting connectivity and development between Guangdong and Hong Kong, also helping the GBA to become a world-class bay area.
To become more competitive, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) should have a set of unified rules, by which the area can be better equipped to connect with the world. It is very urgent to realize that goal in the 14th-Five Year Plan period (2021-2025), otherwise it will hinder GBA's development, said Zheng Yongnian, Presidential Chair Professor, Director of the Advanced Institute of Global and Contemporary China Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, in an exclusive interview.
This year's Guangdong Government Work Report proposes to furhter promote the development of the Greater Bay Area, that also brings new opportunities for Hong Kong. Hong Kong will increasingly involve in the building up of the GBA and to help this area to be more internationalized, said Lau Siu-kai, Vice-chairman, Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies.
Wang Dan is the chief economist of Hang Seng Bank China. She had shared her viewpoints on the 2021 Guangdong Government Work Report. She said that Guangdong's industry represents the level of China's advanced manufacturing industry and is on the way to global production. She believes that Guangdong will be a very attractive place for foreign capital in the next five years. "I belive that Guangdong and China will have a bright future." she said.
