The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has seen a massive surge in traffic, carrying over 2 million vehicles since it was put into operation on June 30, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation said on Saturday.

With the introduction of the "Products inspected by Macao" series logos, local and Macao businesses in Hengqin are already seeing significant benefits. Stephen Wong, executive director of Authenmole (Macau) Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Limited, shares the positive impact this certification has had on their operations.

Wong remarked, "We were quick to communicate with the Macao SAR government to understand the application process for this label. Once we received it, customers have shown much more confidence in our products. Those who were previously hesitant are now more willing to cooperate."

Wong, a Macao resident and a mathematics graduate of Peking University, transitioned from a career in business consultancy to leading a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) company.

When asked about this career shift, Wong explained, "In 2015, after graduating from Peking University, I returned to Macao and joined a company focused on trade consultancy between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. After about five years, we encountered the current patent technology provider for Authenmole from Meizhou, Guangdong. They were looking for a partnership in Macao."

Wong saw great potential in the TCM industry in both Macao and Hengqin. "After two or three months of discussion, we decided to collaborate and introduce this technology to Macao and Hengqin."

In 2020, Authenmole (Macau) established a subsidiary in the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park in Hengqin, which was launched and started production in September 2021. The company boasts an automated, unmanned production line capable of processing TCM materials with innovative technologies that ensure the quantification and standardization of all components and the degradation of harmful substances.

The company's strategic presence in both Macao and Hengqin positions it well to capitalize on new opportunities, particularly in cross-border e-commerce, aligning with Hengqin's supportive policies for high-quality development in the sector.

As the executive director, Wong frequently travels between Macao, Hengqin, Shenzhen, and Meizhou and sometimes attends exhibitions on the Chinese mainland. "I travel to Hengqin two to three times a week for company matters."

Attracted by the convenience of living in Hengqin and the educational environment compared to Macao, he and his wife also bought a residence in Hengqin's 'Macau New Neighborhood' last year. "Our child is due soon, and we plan to move into our new home in Hengqin by the end of the year."

Reflecting on the company's future, Wong said, "Our online market in the Chinese mainland is far larger than in Macao. Therefore, our future online market will focus on the Chinese mainland. I am pleased to see the cross-border e-commerce support services in Hengqin, which allow products made in Macao to smoothly enter the Chinese mainland. This aligns with the vision of many enterprises in Macao."
