Turn on two flash lights and hold the phone on a tripod, Hong Kong youth Zeng Paangcoeng is doing a livestreaming sale of snacks.

From 2015 till now, Zeng has run a business in Shenzhen, over 5 years. Although the company has expanded to more than 20 employees, and became an official content supplier of Douyin, Zeng thinks that it is just a small success. “When you feel exhausted, you will find that there are more people working harder than you. When you find yourself outstanding, you will find there are more people doing a more excellent job” he said.

After his graduation from a middle school in Hong Kong, Zeng spent a gap year doing part-time work while traveling in Mainland China. Through the experience of the gap year, he was impressed by the broadness of the motherland: “In addition to casserole porridge, there are also Malatang and Sichuan hot pot that I didn't know about. In short, I have gained a lot of knowledge in all aspects.” So, he decided to go to Shenzhen for undergraduate education after his gap year finished.

During an occasional event in college, Zeng and his friends promoted the unsalable mangoes in poor mountainous areas through WeChat official accounts and online platforms, and achieved good sales results. So after graduation, Zeng decided to start a business with like-minded friends to do what he is good at.

“The COVID-19 epidemic this year has surprisingly brought online business opportunities and boosted the development of our company. The business volume has increased by 50%.” said Zeng. The Longhua District government also provided rent subsidies to them, which greatly reduced their financial burden. “In Shenzhen, as long as you are willing to fight and keep trying, you can definitely blaze your own way." he said.
