From EngineAI humanoid robots smoothly running at speeds of 12 km/h in Shenzhen's streets to massive KUKA robotic arms operating in Foshan's unmanned factories, the thriving robot industry in Guangdong, China's largest economic powerhouse, is redefining the future of automation.

The province has underscored the importance of robotics, positioning it as a key driver of Guangdong's next-generation industrial growth. As of March 2025, the number of robot-related enterprises in China is approximately 840,000. With over 160,000 robot-related enterprises, accounting for 19% of China's total, Guangdong has become the largest hub for the intelligent robotics industry in China, ranking first in the country in terms of industry scale and the number of enterprises, according to the latest industry report.

According to Ren Yutong, Executive President of the Guangdong Robotics Association, "Guangdong's robotics industry has entered a period of robust development."

The latest statistics from the Department of Industry and Information of Guangdong Province show that the production of industrial robots in Guangdong in 2024 is expected to exceed 240,000 units, with an impressive annual growth rate of 31.2%, accounting for 44% of the total national market. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Guangdong has ranked first nationwide.

Ren indicated that this is mainly due to Guangdong's huge robotics market and complete industrial chain. The continuous iteration of market demand and technological advances have also led to the continuous evolution of robotics in applications.

More specifically, Guangdong has witnessed a booming humanoid robotics industry. According to Morgan Stanley's latest "The Humanoid 100:Mapping the Humanoid Robot Value Chain", seven Shenzhen companies and two Guangzhou companies are listed.

Furthermore, the reports and news emphasize that 63% of the global humanoid robot industry chain is concentrated in China, with 57% of China's supply chain enterprises located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

This month, Guangdong released a plan that clearly points out the revenue of 90 billion yuan for Guangdong's intelligent robots in 2027. Shenzhen also planned for the intelligent robotics industry-related enterprises to exceed 1,200, with the scale of the industries reaching 100 billion yuan by 2027."With the multiple support of policy, market, and industry chain, Guangdong Province's robotics industry is the easiest and most likely to become a global leader and innovation hub," Ren summarized.
