The 17th Dongguan Municipal People's Congress kicked off its fifth session on February 27. During the meeting, Mayor Lv Chengxi delivered a government work report outlining the city's economic and social development goals for 2025.

According to the report, Dongguan aims for a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of over 5 percent in 2025. The city also targets an approximate 7 percent increase in the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated scale. Additionally, efforts will focus on improving the quality and efficiency of fixed asset investments, with a projected 5 percent growth in the total retail sales of consumer goods.

In terms of foreign trade, Dongguan plans to stabilize and enhance its import and export volume. The report also anticipates a 3 percent increase in general public budget revenue.

Moreover, the city aims to synchronize the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents with GDP growth, while keeping the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rise at around 2 percent.
