As 2025 begins, the spotlight is on DeepSeek, a rising star in the Chinese AI sector that is making waves on the global stage. The artificial intelligence landscape is evolving rapidly in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with significant developments emerging in Dongguan.

Recent provincial and municipal documents have highlighted Dongguan's Binhaiwan Bay Area as the site for a new artificial intelligence zone. Capitalizing on its reputation as the "World's Factory," Dongguan is attracting major technology companies, including OPPO and vivo, to support this initiative.

Plans for Binhaiwan include the establishment of "Lingxi Island," a 1,500-acrecore area designated for AI research and development. The strategic layout, consisting of "one corridor, three zones, and five clusters," aims to position Binhaiwan Bay Area as a leading national hub for AI applications by 2030, with an anticipated output value of 60 billionyuan.

Lingxi Island is designed to feature a scenic Chinese garden landscape, incorporating water bodies and lakes, with twelve functional clusters integrated within the natural surroundings. Construction for the first phase is scheduled to commence in the second half of this year, focusing on creating a comprehensive facility for research, pilot testing, production, and data services. This initiative will explore advanced areas such as industrial modeling, vertical industry applications, and AI agents, promoting the integration of AI across various sectors.

The intersection of a trillion-yuan manufacturing base and advanced AI technology in Binhaiwan is expected to foster significant innovation and development in the region's economy.
