Starting February 24, 2025, China Southern Airlines (CSA) will launch a new round-trip flight service connecting Urumqi, Guangzhou, and Kuala Lumpur. This new route marks CSA's first direct flight from Xinjiang to Malaysia, and its fifth overall to Kuala Lumpur from China, joining existing services from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, and Zhengzhou.

To be operated by a Boeing 737-800, the flights will run twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays. The schedule is as follows:

Outbound flight (CZ5065) departs Urumqi at 10:45 AM, arriving in Guangzhou at 3:50 PM, and leaves Guangzhou at 5:25 PM and reach Kuala Lumpur at 9:50 PM.

Return flight (CZ5066) departs Kuala Lumpur at 8:05 AM, arriving in Guangzhou at 12:05 PM, and then leaves Guangzhou at 3:15 PM to reach Urumqi by 8:55 PM.

This new route aims to meet the growing demand for travel between Xinjiang and Malaysia, spurred by the introduction of a mutual visa exemption policy between the two countries in 2024. It will facilitate easier travel for both business and leisure passengers, while offering convenient connections to destinations across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Europe, and within Xinjiang.
