The 55-km Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) links China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR, and the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong province. The bridge is increasingly becoming an important channel for communication and consumption in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

On February 1, 2025, two-way vehicle traffic on the HZMB reached 26,600 trips, setting a new record since the bridge's opening.

Starting July 1, 2024, at the bridge's port, the duty-free limit for personal items acquired abroad by residents from Hong Kong and Macao was increased from RMB 5,000 to RMB 12,000.

Consumer enthusiasm between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao has soared, with shopping in Guangdong becoming a new trend among Hong Kong and Macao drivers. Customs at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge served 16,000 duty-free items and 13,000 duty-free shoppers. Sales of food products at the duty-free stores on the bridge during the Spring Festival holiday surged eightfold year-on-year.

In 2024, the Zhuhai Port of the HZMB recorded over 27 million passenger entries and exits and 5.55 million vehicle crossings, up 72% and 71% year-on-year, both setting new historical records.

The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage, part of the HZMB west extension, was completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2024. The "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles and Macao Vehicles" policy continues to enhance connectivity within the GBA.
