Robotaxi expands operating area in Hengqin

According to the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Robotaxi has recently expanded its service area on the island. 

Previously covering key locations such as Hengqin Port, the Civic Center, and Macau New Neighbourhood, the service now extends to Gang'ao Blvd and the Financial Island. The newly added areas include Songqin Park, Yuxin Building, Zhongjiao Huitong Hengqin Plaza, Huafa Plaza, and the Hengqin International Financial Center, among other popular business, commercial, and residential hubs.

Since its official launch in September 2024, Hengqin's Robotaxi fleet has accumulated over 50,000 kilometers of autonomous driving mileage and logged more than 1,800 hours of autonomous operation, covering a total service area of approximately 15 square kilometers. Residents can book an autonomous vehicle through the "Hengqin Mobility (横琴出行)" WeChat mini-program or the "Ruqi Mobility" app by selecting the "Autonomous Driving" section and entering their pickup and drop-off locations.

As of the end of July 2024, Hengqin had opened a 330-kilometer road network for autonomous driving testing and demonstration applications, introducing 38 autonomous vehicles, including Robotaxis, Robobuses, and autonomous sanitation vehicles. In the mobility sector, Hengqin has launched four unmanned shuttle routes and one autonomous sanitation vehicle demonstration area, with a total of 60,000 passengers experiencing the service, including 16,000 Macao residents.
