Hengqin’s high-quality development conference charts blueprint for next stage

On the afternoon of February 5, the high-quality development conference of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin was held, marking the official launch of a new development phase for the cooperation zone in the coming year.

André Cheong, the newly appointed director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, who is also Macao's Secretary for Administration and Justice, made his first public appearance and announced that the Macao Special Administrative Region government would establish a task force to promote the construction of Hengqin, working in tandem with Guangdong Province to strengthen overall coordination in the cooperation zone's development.

Nie Xinping, the deputy director of the executive committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, emphasized the importance of conducting in-depth research and planning for pragmatic measures to elevate Hengqin's development to a new level.

The development in the new phase is expected to feature greater precision, closer integration, and broader openness. The focus on industrial development will be sharpened, with an emphasis on nurturing key industries and fostering both foreign investment and local business growth, thereby cultivating new industries and business models.

In terms of integrating people's livelihoods, the "Macau New Neighborhood" project will continue, alongside deepened pilot policies aligned with Macao standards and systematic research to offer Macao residents a better living environment.

Meanwhile, the openness of the cooperation zone will continue to increase, with the development of projects such as the digital trade hub and intelligent unmanned systems, attracting international capital, talent, and advanced industries, thereby enhancing Hengqin-Macao's competitiveness in the global market.
