On the morning of December 26th, the new terminal at Foshan Airport was officially put into use, marking a significant upgrade in regional transportation infrastructure. As an important new landmark of regional transportation hubs, with its modern design, comfortable waiting environment as well as intelligent service facilities, the new terminal of Foshan Airport will open a new chapter in service upgrading and create a new travel experience for passengers.
The new terminal's operation brings significant changes to the check-in process. It shifts from a 90-minute advance to an open system, allowing passengers to check in and go through security checks at any time on the day of their flight. Additionally, the terminal introduces electronic boarding passes for security and boarding, and an increase in self-service check-in devices has been implemented, making the process more time-efficient for passengers without checked luggage.
Regarding facility layout, four boarding gates are on the first floor and two on the second floor. It is also equipped with three VIP lounges, four nursing rooms, and multiple shops, catering to the diverse needs of travelers. The waiting area, with over 800 seats, is spacious, bright, and clean, starkly contrasting with the airport's previous modest appearance.
The new terminal is designed to meet the passenger throughput demand of 2.6 million people by the target year 2028. It features a steel-framed modular structure, comprising 299 modules, and is the world's first modular-built terminal. This innovative approach shortens the construction period and offers energy efficiency and sustainability.
