In the afternoon of November 27, the Hong Kong representatives visited the BYD factory in Shanwei, gaining a firsthand look at the production conditions within the plant.
After the on-site factory visit, the representatives were treated to a display of various vehicle models.
The group closely observed the different models, opened car doors, and sat inside to experience the vehicles firsthand, expressing their keen interest and amazement.
Following the vehicle showcase, the delegation proceeded to the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone for a brief meeting.
The group listened to an introduction of the development plans for the cooperation zone and engaged in discussions.
According to the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone Management Committee, both the Western Shenzhen-Shanwei Manufacturing City and the Eastern Intelligent Equipment Industrial Park welcome projects from Hong Kong’s business and manufacturing sectors to settle down. Additionally, there are eight major industrial platforms that can be tailored to the needs of Hong Kong businesses, offering a ready-to-occupy solution.
Andrew Kwok, President of the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association, expressed that after the visits over the past two days, he feels that artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics represent significant market opportunities, and that the timing now is ripe for Hong Kong and the mainland to complement each other’s strengths and cooperate in these areas.
The delegation then moved on to participate in the Shenzhen promotion event and working dinner in Futian, Shenzhen.
At the event, Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of HKSAR, emphasized the continuous exchange between Hong Kong and Shenzhen in personnel, economy, and trade, highlighting the two cities' close relationship as brothers. Hong Kong will continue to explore collaborative platforms, such as the clinical trial collaboration platform in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, to accelerate the development of the medical innovation industry, and will continue to take the initiative to gather strength and action, actively participating in the construction of the GBA.
Johnny Yeung, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, shared that the visit to Huizhou left a deep impression on him. He found that many large Hong Kong enterprises settled in Huizhou, whose leaders welcomed the visiting group to introduce their investments in the city. Yeung believes this is due to the excellent investment experience of these Hong Kong-funded enterprises in Huizhou and their close and harmonious cooperation with the local government, leading them to promote the area.
Johnny Yeung also noted that the cities visited in the GBA tour this time, including Huizhou and Shenzhen, each have their own distinct advantages in terms of human resources, policies, and product support.
After two and a half days of an enriching tour in the GBA, the Hong Kong representatives have gained a deeper understanding of the business environment, policy conditions, and development opportunities in the five cities of the mainland GBA. Representatives have fully explored cooperation opportunities during the visit, further promoting collaborative development and leveraging complementary advantages to achieve win-win cooperation within the GBA.
