Guangzhou Metro Line 3 East Extension to open fully on November 1

The East Extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 3 (from Panyu Square to Haibang) has completed construction and final inspections, passing the preliminary operational safety assessment, as announced by Guangzhou Metro Group on October 30. Service on this extension will begin with the first train on November 1.

The Line 3 East Extension starts at Panyu Square Station, extending eastward along Yayun Avenue to Haibang Station, where it connects with Line 4. Spanning 9.6 kilometers and entirely underground, the extension includes four new stations: Bangjiang, Shiqinan, Haichong Road, and Haibang. Once the East Extension opens, it will integrate with the existing Line 3, greatly enhancing transit options for residents in central Panyu and near Asian Games City.

Following integration, Line 3 will retain its current "Y-shaped" operational pattern, with trains running from Airport North to Haibang and from Tianhe Coach Terminal to Haibang. Travel times are approximately 87 minutes from Airport North to Haibang and 57 minutes from Tianhe Coach Terminal to Haibang. To accommodate peak hour demand, Line 3 will also continue running shorter routes between Tonghe and Tiyu Xilu, and between Tianhe Coach Terminal / Airport North and Dashi.
