Starting from September 30, Lufthansa German Airlines (code 'LH') and SWISS International Air Lines (code 'LX') will launch UCI (Upstream Check-in) service at Guangzhou's Pazhou Ferry Terminal, for their flights departing from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
This service will allow passengers who take flights from these two airlines to complete immigration, check-in, and baggage tagging at the Pazhou Ferry Terminal before heading to the SkyPier, located in the restricted area of HKIA. Passengers can then proceed directly to the boarding gates without going through immigration and customs procedures in Hong Kong.
Lufthansa German Airlines and SWISS International Air Lines will become the 20th and 21st carriers providing UCI services at Pazhou Ferry Terminal for flights departing from Hong Kong.
On the occasion of the upcoming new services, Pazhou Ferry Terminal received a letter from the Hamburg Liaison Office in China. The office congratulated the launch of the UCI service of LH and wished the ferry terminal to bring more convenience between China and Germany.
The other 19 airlines currently offering check-in service at the ferry terminal include Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, EVA Air, Greater Bay Airlines, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, HK Express, Hong Kong Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, Japan Airlines, Air Canada, Korean Air, United Airlines, Thai Airways, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines.
For passengers taking airlines with UCI service, the Minimum Connecting Time (MCT) from Pazhou Ferry Terminal to HKIA is about 130 minutes. The MCT of another 45 airlines allows ferry services from Pazhou to Hong Kong's airports, which is around 180 minutes.
Located in Guangzhou's bustling Haizhu District, where the Canton Fair is held, Pazhou Ferry Terminal on the Pearl River is the only cross-border passenger transport port on the water in the downtown area of the South China metropolis. To purchase a ferry ticket, passengers are required to present valid air tickets with confirmed seats departing from HKIA and arrive at the ferry terminal 90 minutes before departure.
