Guangdong's total imports and exports increased by 12.8% year-on-year

According to statistics from the Guangdong Sub-Administration of GACC, during the first 8 months of this year, Guangdong's total imports and exports comprised 20.8% of the national total imports and exports, while monthly imports and exports sustained positive growth for 5 consecutive months.

Guangdong's trade with its top 5 trade partners, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Hong Kong SAR, USA, EU, and Taiwan Province, registered positive growth without exception. Guangdong also effectively opened up emerging markets in Middle East countries, Latin America, and Central Asia, with respective increase rates of 14.6%, 18.8%, and 34.3% year-on-year.

Electromechanical product exports constituted 64.8% of Guangdong's total exports, including traditionally advantageous export goods such as mobile phones, automatic data processing equipment with components, and household appliances. However, new growth areas such as vessels, electric vehicles, and containers performed even better with increase rates of 47.6%, 68.2%, and 133.1% respectively.

The imports of integrated circuits constituted 34.7% of Guangdong's total imports, while imports of automatic data processing equipment with its components and semiconductor production equipment rose by 140.8% and 126.8% respectively.
