Robotaxi and Robobus officially launch commercial operation in Hengqin

The launch of the commercialization pilot of Hengqin intelligent Internet-connected autonomous vehicles on September 10 marks a new phase of commercial operation for intelligent connected autonomous driving vehicles in Hengqin.

Four enterprises were awarded the first batch of commercial pilot notices, including Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Development CO., LTD., Guangzhou WeRide Technology Co., LTD., QCRAFT Technology Co., LTD. and ONTIME.

Sun Lei, vice president of ONTIME, said that the first phase of operation of ONTIME Robotaxi in Hengqin will be concentrated in areas such as Hengqin Port, government service centers and Macau New Neighbourhood, and will gradually expand its service scope in the future.

It is reported that the current fee for passengers to take a self-driving minibus is one yuan per trip, and the price of ONTIME Robotaxi is equivalent to that of regular ride-hailing services. During the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, the vehicle capacity will be flexibly adjusted according to the flow of people to ensure that the travel needs of citizens are met.

Since the pilot was launched on September 15th, 2022, the intelligent connected autonomous driving vehicles project in Hengqin has been developed for two years. Until now, the cooperation zone has opened self-driving tests on 330 kilometers of road network across the island, with a cumulative test mileage exceeding 380,000 kilometers.
