The 27th Chengdu International Automobile Exhibition kicked off on August 30. At the center of attention was XPENG AEROHT's flying car, which made its debut and completed its maiden flight demonstration in Chengdu, painting a picture of future urban low-altitude transportation.

During the day, XPENG AEROHT's self-developed XPENG X2, an intelligent electric manned aerial vehicle, took off from the Tianfu International Convention and Exhibition Center and circled the skies above Tianfu Park.

Crafted entirely from carbon fiber materials that balance safety with lightweight, this two-seater aircraft weighs 680 kilograms with batteries and has a payload capacity of 160 kilograms, effortlessly accommodating two adults of average build. It boasts a maximum flight altitude of 1,000 meters, a top speed of 130 kilometers per hour, and an endurance of approximately 25 minutes.

Prior to the flight demonstration, Sichuan General Aviation Investment Management Co. Ltd announced a strategic partnership with XPENG AEROHT, laying a solid foundation for the development of a low-altitude economy in western China. The two parties will embark on comprehensive and long-term cooperation spanning flight vehicle testing and application, professional talent cultivation, market expansion, and more.

Wang Ming, Deputy General Manager of XPENG AEROHT, elaborated that the partnership will harness XPENG AEROHT's R&D and manufacturing capabilities in flying cars and other electric aircraft, as well as Sichuan General Aviation Investment Management Co. Ltd's strengths in industrial infrastructure construction and general aviation operations.

The collaboration will encompass flight testing, professional talent training for sports-class electric aircraft test flights, designation of low-altitude visual airspace for testing, regional-level "flying car" exhibitions and sales, pilot training, business services, maintenance and repairs, and more.

Furthermore, the two parties will jointly propel the market application of "flying cars," establish and expand usable scenarios, and seize the significant opportunities brought by low-altitude economic development.

They aim to leverage "flying cars" as platforms for low-altitude cultural tourism and new consumption formats while establishing a comprehensive after-sales service and training support system, as well as formulating industry-representative standards and norms.
