Intercity railways add stations available for multiple-ride and periodical tickets

Since August 2021, when the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Zhuhai-Zhuhai Airport Intercity Railway launched the offering of multiple-ride tickets and periodical tickets, the response from passengers has been overwhelming.

In order to further facilitate passengers' travel, starting from August 20, the two intercity railways introduce multiple-ride tickets and periodical tickets at seven additional stations, enhancing convenience for passengers. The new stations include Jianghai, Liyue, Cuiheng, Qianshan, Jingwan, Sanzao East, and Zhuhai Airport.

After the adjustment, the stations that implement the new ticket system along the two intercity railways are Guangzhou South, Beijiao, Shunde, Shunde College, Ronggui, Nantou, Xiaolan, Guzhen, Jianghai, Jiangmen East, Liyue, Xinhui, Zhongshan North, Zhongshan, Nanlang, Cuiheng, Zhuhai North, Tangjiawan, Mingzhu, Qianshan, Zhuhai, Wanzai North, Shizimen, Hengqin North, Hengqin, Zhuhai Changlong, Jingwan, Sanzao East, and Zhuhai Airport railway stations.

According to a staff member from the passenger transport department of the China Railway Guangzhou Group, passengers need to designate fixed arrival and departure stations and fixed seats (first or second class) when purchasing two ticket plans, and are not allowed to get on and off at intermediate stations, or use them across stations, and are not allowed to use across seats.

The multiple-ride tickets allow passengers to take up to 20 round trips between fixed station combinations within 90 days, while the periodical ticket permits up to 60 trips within 30 days for frequent commuters. The former is suitable for passengers who make no more than 10 round trips in a three-month period, while the latter is more suitable for those who commute frequently within a month.

Purchasing these tickets offers discounts compared to standard fares, with specific prices available on the 12306.cn website or its app.

The process for buying and using these tickets has been simplified, reducing the complexities involved in sequential purchases and ticket changes. This change enables passengers to plan their journeys more flexibly.

Passengers can reserve the relevant trains after purchasing tickets on 12306's platforms, and the multiple-ride can reserve up to 4 trains at the same time, and the periodical tickets can reserve up to 10 trains at the same time. If a passenger does not take the reserved train, he/she can cancel it at any time before the departure; otherwise, it will be deemed to have taken the train and the number of rides will be deducted.

The staff member from the passenger transport department of the China Railway Guangzhou Group said, "With the opening of the second phase of the Zhuhai-Zhuhai Airport Intercity Railway at the beginning of this year, the demand for passengers' travel is more vigorous, and the implementation of these two types of tickets at more stations will benefit more passengers."
