The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage is about 31 kilometers long, starting from Gaolan Port in Zhuhai and ending in Doushan Town, Taishan, Jiangmen. The entire project includes two large cable-stayed bridges, namely the Huangmaohai Bridge and Gaolan Port Bridge, two tunnels through Xiangshan Mountain and Shishan Mountain, as well as four interchanges. Among them, Gaolan Port Bridge connected its two sections earlier in March, and currently, road paving and steel box girder bridge deck paving construction are in progress.
The last two sections of the split steel box girders of the Huangmaohai Bridge, weighing about 180 tons, are being lifted. The successful completion of the Huangmaohai Bridge signifies the full completion of the bridges in the entire project.
The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage is being constructed as a two-way, 6-lane highway, designed to accommodate a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of this year. Once completed, the travel time from Zhuhai to Jiangmen and western Guangdong will be reduced by approximately 30 minutes.
The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage is also referred to as the "Western Extension of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB)". In the future, it will connect with the HZMB, Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, Nansha Bridge, and Humen Bridge to create a network of cross-sea and cross-river passages in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
