22 investment promotion activities for GBA kick off globally

The overseas parallel sessions of the 2022 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) kicked off on Nov. 8 while the first session with Frankfurt, Germany on the same day.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong) and Guangdong Department of Commerce will organize 22 overseas investment promotion sessions in an “online + offline” format in the next 3 months, aiming to boost the international influence of the conference and introduce business opportunities in GBA to enterprises around the world, according to Fang Lixu, President of CCPIT Guangdong.

In addition, 15 cities of Guangdong will join in these sessions, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Huizhou, Shantou, Shanwei, Chaozhou, Yangjiang, Qingyuan, and Yunfu.

Fang stressed that 20 strategic industrial clusters in Guangdong will be promoted during the activities, covering such fields as advanced manufacturing, modern services, high-tech, energy conservation and environmental protection, green and low-carbon development, digital economy and other emerging industries.

“We’ll devote ourselves to introducing a batch of foreign-invested projects and attracting more enterprise’s headquarters to settle in Guangdong. And thus we will further improve our ability to facilitate foreign investment,” said Fang.

According to Fang, CCPIT Guangdong has established 37 Guangdong Commerce Chambers and 32 Guangdong Economic and Trade Representative Offices in the US, European countries as well as countries and regions along the "Belt and Road". He indicated that these organizations will help connect the investment promotion conference with more foreign enterprises.

As the first overseas session, the investment promotion conference in Germany has attracted more than 80 German enterprises and Chinese enterprises, according to Frances Yang, Chief Representative of Guangdong Economic and Trade Representative Office in Germany.

“On December 2, we will hold the 2022 British Columbia-Guangdong Economy and Trade Forum in Canada’s Vancouver as well as in China’s Guangzhou online and offline. Policies related to investment in GBA will be introduced to Canadian enterprises,” said Zeng bin, President of the Canada-Guangdong Commerce Chamber.

Li Jing, Director of Guangdong Economic and Trade Office, Southeast Asia (Kuala Lumpur), indicated that the GBA has a high level of opening-up and economic vitality. “There is a solid economic foundation and mature modern industrial system in GBA. I hope more people come and find their chance of investment or career development in GBA, ” said Li.

The opening ceremony for overseas sessions was attended by about 50 representatives from the Guangdong Commerce Chamber of Canada, Russia, Poland, and Japan in person. In addition, about 30 representatives from the overseas Economic and Trading Office of CCPIT Guangdong or Guangdong Commerce Chamber attended the ceremony online.
