Zhuhai legislative projects focus on industry, Hengqin Cooperation Zone

The Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress will further deliberate on 36 legislative projects covering fields like enterprises, healthcare, pensions, and talents for its annual plan, officials announced during a March 16 press conference.

Among them, three projects concern the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Of note, a fast pass mechanism has been set up by the standing committee, allowing no quantity limit of legislative projects on pressing issues related to Hengqin's construction and reform. The projects will be reviewed upon submission.

Qualified medical staff members from Hong Kong, Macao, or overseas will be allowed to practice in Hengqin. In addition, the zone will organize more matchmaking activities with Macao in public services and social security systems. It is expected that Macao residents will enjoy more convenience in studying, working, living, and starting up businesses in Hengqin. 

Stipulation of a regulation on the red lines of industrial land is also among the 36 projects and is considered to be China's first local legislative project of its kind. The 9th CPC Zhuhai Municipal Congress, which was held in December 2021, noted that stricter control on industrial land use will be implemented to ensure sufficient space for the development of the city's real economy. 

Yong Ling, a member of the standing committee, said that the regulation will further boost Zhuhai's economic vitality and better protect industrial land.
